production plan

Before we start filming we will need to verify some things and also finalise them.

- We need to add our photos of our location that we are shooting at

- We need to make sure we have our costumes for shooting

- Photos of our cast and what their role is within the video

- Check the weather for the dates we will be filming

- Get to grips with how we are editing

journal week 4

We are finishing off our story board, and now started to think about filming our video. We have chosen our locations and should be set to start filming within the next 2 to 3 weeks. We have also taken our photos for Reccee and our posting them on our blogs. Shaun posted our cast list on his blog so we know who is definitely going to be in our video. I have posted our production plan so everybody knows what we need to finalise before filming.

video analysis

In the music videos we see that all of the boybands have a dance routine we intend to have to keep the same style, also they each have a certain persona, a role for example in "It Only Takes A Minute" they have Robbie and Gary singing upfront while Jason, Mark and Howard. This would suggest that these two are the main focus of the band also the more serious. All the boybands seem to be wearing the same type of clothes all stylish (Within the era) this is what we will do in our video.

brief

This is the brief we have chosen for our band "Boyz 4 Now". Our plan is to not exactly follow what other boybands have done but re imagine it, this is so the band can become the latest and greatest boyband.

journal

Journal

Week 1 - In our first week we have been introduced to Goodwins theory of music videos. This was taught so we could see and get ideas of what we can do in our music videos.

Week 2 - In our second week we formed groups and have decided on making a video for the song "Its Gonna Be Me" by "Nsync" this would be for our boyband we created called "Boyz 4 Now". Our group has looked at ways to make our selves different from other boy bands but still managing  to keep all the characteristics.  We looked at other boybands for example "Take That" "JLS" and also "Westlife" to name a few. After doing this we then came up for a concept for our video and began to plan, seeing as most boybands have certain styles within the boyband we decided (with some help from our teacher) that we should use this in our video, we then decided that we could each have a element.

Week 3 - In our third week we have been storyboarding our music video and creating questionnaires. We have created our questionnaires so that we can get feedback preferably from out target audience on what they think is a good idea for our genre, for example one question is "What fashion wear do you think will appear to our target audience?" This is important so that we can target our target audience.

boyz 4 now logo

this is our Boyz 4 now logo that we created. We used Dafont to make the title and all discussed and agreed this would be the best suited for us. We feel that this title has characteristics similar to other boy band titles and kind of gives off the pop genre look.

Questionnaire Feedback

Questionnaire - Feedback

1. What is your age?

Everyone who answered our questionnaire was between the ages of 16-20, which is what our target audience's age would be.

2. Who out of the music artists below would you consider to be an influence to you?

4/10 people said that the artist that influenced them was a rock band. e.g Linkin Park, 4/10 people said that the artist that influenced them was a rapper. e.g Eminem and finally 2/10 people said that the artist that influenced them was a pop boy band. e.g JLS.

3. What is your favourite style of genre?

3/10 people said pop.
1/10 people said indie.
3/10 people said rock.
4/10 people said R&B.

4. Our target audience for our band would be, teenagers.
What fashion wear do you think will apply to our target audience?

from the answers we received the most common reply was skinny jeans, converse, tight tops, chinos and vans.

5. What is your favourite pop song?

From the answers the most common was from Katy Perry - E.T, this can help us because we could then use an insight to her music video that could have an aspect of Katy Perry's.

6. What do you think should be in a pop music video?

From the answers we received the most common answers were, a story line, dancing and fun scenes. From the list we do have all of them planned to be into our music video.

7. Do you like movies such as Twilight?

7/10 people answered that they like Twilight, which is good because of the supernatural powers that we have put into the storyline which has an element towards Twilight.

8. Do you think it is a good idea for members of a pop boy band to have their own significant identity look?

100% of people answered yes to this question, this also helps support our image of each band member having their own super power and image.

Mark Ronson T.V advert

The advert starts off with a young boy talking about who's album it is and what the album is called ( Mark Ronson and the business international, Record collection ) whilst in the background a song from the album "The bike song" is being played, We see that the advert is made with moving dolls or plasticine people. These dolls/characters are the people in the album as we later see in the advert.

The first thing we see in the advert is the doll version of mark ronson getting into his car and putting his record in the passenger seat. This is so we can see what the record looks like and what the album is called. The boy then says "The bike song" is on the album and we hear the song from the minute the advert begins and it becomes the main focus just after the boy states the name of the song (5 second duration). The doll version of mark ronson then pulls up to a house and we are introduced to the people who are on the album, they are also in doll form. One of the dolls then puts on the record and the boy states another song called "Bang Bang Bang", the song then starts to play in the background and the dolls are seen partying. I believe this is shown to represent that his record is supposed to be played at party's, also that the songs on the album fall under the pop- techno genre. With the record name being called record collection I believe that this backs up what I said earlier about the songs being played at party's because you have a collection of records that you would play at party's and the album is implying that this is the only album you need.

Digi pack analysis

This is the digi pack for Linkin Park's reanimation, this is what the front of the pack looks like.

There is a flying robot on the front this is taken from their album hybrid theory, the robot takes up most of the front cover i believe this robot is a symbol of this CD so people know which CD it is if they were to purchase it. The bands name is at the top and the album name is at the bottom to be clearly seen. the typography can be related to linkin park by the worn away effect on the letters making it appear as rock.

This is the back of the digi pack, it has the same kind of style as the front(green with robot) and shows the songs on the album. at the top of the album it states the albums name and tells us that the album is a remix of Linkin Parks original songs, to the right of the name it says who has remixed them. On the spine of the album it says the band name and album name again, we are told at the bottom that this digi pack includes bonus multi-media content, this could mean a DVD, interactivity or a poster. We see at the bottom that we have a bar code which is important, so the pack can be sold in shops. Just below that we see copyright information the bands record label and also who has produced the album.

Digipack

A digipack is a cd in a cardboard case with artwork on the case

Artist, related to music video artwork, songs, artist name, record label, website, copyright, barcode, artist and album on spine of case, might need parental advisory.

A record label would release a digipack. Rather then a jewel case because it is cheaper for the company. (promo case) (dvd logo)

The consumer gets artwork related to the song artist
